Starting a new job can be both thrilling and worrisome–especially if the new job is at a place full of brilliant people. Working with geniuses is sort of intimidating. First impression descriptions of a few of my colleagues:
- Insanely talented undergrad genius
- Quirky, artistic genius with awesome hair
- Cool, friendly, adventurous genius
- Young-dad-in-charge-of-too-many-crazy-projects genius
- friendly, pro-linux, sitcom-perfect genius
- Tough, bad-ass genius
- hard-working, friendly, go-to-for-help genius
- Trail-mix-and-red-bull genius
- Fellow-new-person-but-smarter genius
- Mysterious genius
- genius-in-charge with insane mental organizational skills
Of course, first impressions (especially mine) can be about as accurate as identifying the eye color of the driver of an inconspicuous vehicle from a bird’s-eye view on a cloudy day–in an unforgiving Sierra point-and-click game. It’s probably best, if you don’t know what I’m talking about.
